| Since it comes up quite often when I play, and as I never really figured it out, what factors go into whether or not you actually escape a combat when you flee? Sometimes I get blocked, sometimes not. | |

| I believe that some of it has to do with the number of openings that are available. Perhaps, if you are in a room with one exit you are going to get blocked because when you flee you are picking a random direction. | |

| A combination of these? - Available exits - Available movement points versus surrounding terrain - Number of enemies + whether if engaged in melee - Character dexterity versus enemies dexterity - Condition of legs - Flight status where applicable | |

| I think we were told some time ago that characters who flee get three chances to leave. If all of them are blocked by walls or impassible terrain, you get blocked. A block is more likely than not in a room with only one exit, but you can always try again if you've PE left. | |
