Okay i havent been on in like a few days but why is it my char is saying illegal name now?

I would imagine because there is no more magic.

Yesterday evening I blocked this character for the player's own security. As I suspected, the character got hacked by the same sitebanned person who was responsible for hacking and deleting another character not long ago.

I want to take this opportunity to remind everyone to set passwords that are not easily guessable. Using a combination of letters and numbers is generally the most secure way to go. If you suspect that one of your characters, or that of others is being hacked, report it immediately to the IMM staff.

Hi Mira, I would just like to inform you that this character was not hacked. In fact, if you take notice, you might notice that the IP address of this so-called "hacker" has been logging on this character, and that the two players are in fact friends that share characters.

EDIT: The real problem is that passwords can only be eight characters.... this really needs to be fixed.

I'm already surprised it doesn't just MD5 whatever length of string is entered for the password...

Actually, that was a thread where some other people who obviously didn't report their "evidence" to any IMMs decided to bring their complaints to the forums, and the player of Ruphys didn't "pretty much admit" to anything at all. Really daft of Mira not to go backwards in time and figure out what really happened, though.

I personally wasn't whining about this, I mean I made out like a bandit, got all of Ruphys's gear, and all of Frederich's by just killing Ruphys twice.
