I just bought a new sable-black destrier from that shop and it was medium-sized. As a medium-sized character, I was able to mount it. I would guess your mount really has been resized somehow, even if you didn't know it. |

I personally dealt with this horse IC, and it was too small. When I enlarged it, her character was able to ride it just fine. Other destriers were fine. Not sure what happened with hers. |
