While in a new area and fighting treants, i have been consistantly being tripped while I am in the second row. Was there some sort of trip change that went into effect or is it a feature inherent of the treant race? |

Er treants have reach, you can always trip something if you can reach it (if they're not flying). |

I dont remember that being the case when I rolled a fer mercs and used reach weapons, otherwise being second row wouldnt really matter vs a merc. |

right.. because everyone can melee someone perfectly on one foot while using the other to reach around that first person to someone standing behind them and successfully trip them. |

I'm pretty sure there are more ways to trip someone then sticking your leg behind them and pushing them smurf 
I always imagined a second row trip as using the weapon to offbalance and trip them mid-fight, it wouldn't be that difficult with practice. And yes, it sounds like treants have reach |

You've been able to trip second row for at least 5 years if you were wielding a reaching weapon. And yes, treants can reach. |

It actually says right in the help file of trip that it can be used in combination with reach. |
