If you're polite and upfront in the first place and it's a minor violation and the person is feeling generous it helps a lot, unless it's something major like a DUI or multiplaying or botting or whatever, then you're catching the baton in the teeth either way.

His attitude had nothing to do with it. I didn't take it personally. I have had situations where the cheese completely falls of the cracker for the player and I have become annoyed, but this was not one of those cases.

There's virtue in being consistent. If you react ambiguously to cheating, more people might cheat because they think that they might be one of the lucky people to get caught and only receive a slap on the wrist. If anything, we aren't nearly consistent enough, because sometimes immortals may not bring a violation to my attention. Acting appropriately humble and apologetic might not have swayed Nashira, but I am sure that there have been many times in the past where it has kept people from being brought to my attention for a ruling. It's good that did not happen here.

It's too bad this whole thing had to happen, but it was easily avoidable by remembering one thing: follow the rules.

There isn't a damn player some of us won't know who plays them when we interact with them for a little while.

Also, there are some players that everyone will recognize right away. Peso being the prime example.
